I am living at home in my first year and my parents both have good jobs. However, i was wondering whether i would get and grants or bursaries because everyone i know seems to be able to get one. I have a friend living at home with her parents and she is getting £2000 free money that she does not have to pay back. I do work part time 15 hours a week.
hey! unfortunately it really depends on your parents income on whether you get additional funding. if combined they earn over £30′000 (or there abouts) in a year you’ll just get the bog standard tuition fee loan and a maintenance loan (living expenses) buts that’s it. however if it below the threshold you may be entitled to a maintenance grant on top of two loans, these grants come in all sizes, depending on your parents income. if say they earn under £15′000 you’ll get the full grant otherwise you’ll get a partial grant. under law if your entitled to the full maintenance grant the university is obliged to give you an additional bursary (minimum £300) but it can go higher, just depends on uni…hope this helps!
